See How We’re Putting Our Mission Into Action

    • Leading Wyoming’s efforts to reduce drug- and alcohol-involved crashes through research, discussion, and planning.
    • Identifying priority issues and effective prevention strategies related to impaired driving.
    • Developing plans to implement those strategies.

Enhanced DUI Enforcement through collaborative local task forces

Task forces help communities reduce impaired driving and improve traffic safety through collaboration and shared responsibility. By bringing together law enforcement, courts, treatment providers, prevention programs, transportation services, public health agencies, and community leaders, task forces support proven strategies that reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities while improving public awareness and roadway safety.

The Wyoming Governor’s Council on Impaired Driving (GCID) supports county task forces through training, technical assistance, funding opportunities, and evidence-based best practices. Through initiatives such as 24/7 Sobriety Programs, SafeRide services, multidisciplinary enforcement operations, and data-driven traffic safety efforts, task forces help communities reduce impaired-driving crashes, improve public safety, and save lives across Wyoming.

Reducing Repeat DUI Offenses and Preventing Impaired-Driving Crashes

High-risk impaired driving offenders are individuals who repeatedly drive under the influence, drive with a high blood alcohol concentration (BAC of .15 or greater), refuse chemical testing, or have multiple impaired driving convictions. Statewide, these repeat DUI offenders are involved in a disproportionate number of serious and fatal impaired-driving crashes.

The Wyoming Governor’s Council on Impaired Driving (GCID) supports evidence-based strategies such as 24/7 Sobriety Programs, impaired driving assessments, treatment courts, ignition interlock devices, and enhanced offender supervision to reduce DUI recidivism, improve offender accountability, and strengthen public safety across Wyoming.

    Local Media

We work with communications professionals in Wyoming to create advertising campaigns designed to educate the public and increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving. Extensive national research suggests that correcting the misperception that “everyone is drinking and driving” has been proven to increase the use of sober, designated drivers and lower incidences of risky behavior.
